Ignas and Tæknisetur Collaborate on Recycling 3D Printing Plastics

Project Manager

The health technology company Ignas and Tæknisetur are now collaborating in the field of recycling. Ignas is a startup developing hardware and software solutions to combat hospital-acquired infections. As part of their development work, large quantities of prototypes are 3D printed using white PLA (polylactic acid) plastic.
Samuël van der Heijden of Ignas and Dagur Ingi Ólafsson of Tæknisetur mark the partnership with a handshake. Samuël is holding a printed prototype, while Dagur holds recycled 3D printing filament.
Tæknisetur now collects used prototypes, failed prints, and other plastic waste from Ignas, shreds the material, and remelts it into new 3D printing filament that can be reused by Ignas and others.
This collaboration is a highly positive step toward reducing waste and transforming discarded plastic into valuable 3D printing material once again.
