Recycled Fishing Nets at the 2024 Product Fair

Tæknisetur recently took part in an exciting project with four students from the Verzlunarskóli Íslands. The students came up with the idea of producing food clips from recycled fishing nets using 3D printing, under the name Netaprent. Staff at Tæknisetur assisted the students with the recycling process, as the company recently acquired equipment capable of converting plastic waste into 3D printing filament.

The project was part of an innovation course offered across various upper secondary schools. Each year, the course culminates in the Vörumessan held at Smáralind, where student groups present and sell their products to visitors.

Tæknisetur also attended the Product Fair and visited the Netaprent booth. It was great to see the level of interest in the project, particularly from people within the fisheries sector—and even better, all the food clips sold out!
